What is in Orlando Florida?

by Chris Linch

Orlando Florida is probably the most popular city in central Florida. Orlando is the third largest metropolitan area right behind Miami and Tampa. The city is known for its many tourist attractions, which makes it a popular travel destination. Some of these attractions are Walt Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studios. There are about 52 million tourists that travel to Orlando each year. The number of hotel rooms is second to that of Las Vegas.

As I said Orlando is the home to various tourist attractions. Walt Disney World is the largest, most visited attraction in Orlando. This attraction has many sub attractions such as Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach and Downtown Disney.

Sea World is a large park that is a mix between an amusement park and a zoo. There is a water park as well as many marine animal exibits. Universal Studios has many attractions such as City Walk, Islands of Adventure and the original Universal Studios.

There are also 4 malls in Orlando. There is the Florida Mall, 250 stores, for sure the largest mall in Orlando. There is the Mall at the Millenia which has world famous department stores like Bloomingdales and Macy’s. There is also the Orlando Fashion Mall and Festival Bay Mall.

Orlando also offers many museums. Museums range from art to science to history. One of which is a 50 acre garden featuring a great assortment of tropical plants. This attraction includes an orchid house and a butterfly garden.

Tourism is what brings the bucks into Orlando. It is the largest part of their economy. They have forty plus million tourists enter their city per year. They also have a large convention economy. They rival Las Vegas and Chicago for the most conventions each year, most of which are in their two million squire foot convention center.

Orlando is a wonderful tourist destination, where you can find a large array of things to do. It is also closely located to other popular cities in Florida as well as about an hour and a half from the beaches of the Atlantic like Cocoa Beach.
