Orlando, a city famous all over the world for the great theme parks, is surprisingly only the sixth largest in Florida. The weather is always great in Orlando, which coupled with a multitude of attractions makes it a perfect place for a family vacation. Needless to say, there are lots of fun things to do in Orlando.

While the majority of Orlando’s income is from its booming tourism industry, it would be unfair just to label it a theme park city especially when it has other profitable industries which compete with tourism; aerospace and electronics. There are around 52 million tourists visiting coming to the region each year and hence, it is obvious that to accommodate that many visitors there has to be a large number of attractions.

The theme parks in Orlando have all been created with the family in mind and are accessible to young and old with Walt Disney World still being the most popular tourist attraction. Disney has also some fantastic themed hotels, lodges and other places to stay within its resort area plus with some superb restaurants it would be easy never to leave the area and venture to see what else was available in Orlando.

Another great place that most tourists want to go to is Sea World. It might not have too many rides, but the sheer amount of sea creatures that you can see there makes a trip to Sea World a must. Each day there are so many shows in the park that another visit is certainly a good idea.

Universal Studios are another of Orlando’s greatest hits. At least a day at this theme park cannot be missed if you consider yourself a cinema fanatic.

Once you’ve had enough of theme parks, you can start exploring some of the lesser known Orlando’s attractions. One show not to be missed is the nightly performance of the 60 trained horses in the Arabian Nights show, which is certain to provide great entertainment for the whole family.

When you plan a trip to Orlando it is important to have some idea in advance of where you are going to stay, eat and what attractions you intend to visit as it is very easy to get sidetracked as there is so much to see and do. There is an abundance of places to stay at all budget levels, including many luxury hotels with great sports facilities.
