In times of recession, many people do not have enough money to go abroad so people are starting to look elsewhere for a really pleasant and viable alternative for a short break. However, it might not have occurred to a lot of people that we have plenty to see and do in our own country which might be completely different to where you live.

In times of recession, short breaks in England make for a viable alternative and there is certainly no shortage of places to visit. If you’re looking for a beach holiday, then there are certain resorts which are usually find in the summer months or you could go up to East Anglia which is much less populous and much to the rest of the country and is also home to some fine beaches.

If you’re looking for city breaks, then there are also plenty of choices. Just a name a few out of literally dozens, you could enjoy the fine city of York, Durham or Cambridge. There is far more to England and just London.

If you are more interested in going on a short city break, then there are sure to be cities in England which you haven’t visited before which are definitely worth a visit. Some examples include the fine old city of York, you could see the fantastic cathedral of Durham or you could take the ride down the river in a punt in Cambridge. There are literally so many alternatives.

If you want to experience the English countryside, then you should consider renting a holiday cottage. There are so many holiday cottages on offer in all areas of the country and this will give you a fantastic insight into the local way of life.
