Are you sick of the same old same old when it comes to your annual vacation? Are you looking for somewhere different to visit? Do you want to lounge on a beach in the hot sun or do you want a lively and vibrant city break in a city such as Swansea?

Cardiff is the largest city (by population) in Wales with the city of Swansea being a close second. The advantages of the city to travelers is that it is a coastal city so you have the benefits of a seaside resort coupled with those of a modern city and on top of this you are easily in reach of some of Britain’s finest beaches.

Besides the fantastic beaches, Swansea has a wealth of visitor attractions to entice you to have a vacation there. While the city has the sea in one direction and incredible scenery in the other, the city has all the usual entertainment facilities to keep you occupied for good amount of time.

Swansea Beaches

Within the larger area of Swansea (Swansea county) there are so many fantastic beaches that they can not all be listed here but the two most famous are Oxwich Bay and Three Cliffs Bay. Among the many other beaches, besides Swansea Bay, are the beaches of Limeslade, Rotherslade, Horton Bay, Mewslade Bay, Pwlldu Bay and a great many more bays and coves.

While the beaches are popular with families, sun lovers and swimmers Swansea Bay is more well known (and most suited) for it’s water sports. Sailing is highly popular and you will certainly see plenty of yachts (large and small), pleasure boats and small dinghies. Other popular sports are surfing and water skiing.

Other Visitor Attractions

Of course you could always settle for an incredible city break in Swansea. Like many UK cities Swansea has a number of fine galleries and museums to visit as well as a wealth of other cultural activities. Of special note is the National Waterfront Museum and the Dylan Thomas Centre should also be high on your list of places to visit.
