Hostels are a great place to stay and accommodation is usually the biggest cost people have while they travel. Moreover, you spend a lot of time in hostels and they are your main place to meet other travelers. They help people make friends, cook meals, plan activities, and sleep. When you travel, you always want to stay in the cool hostel and finding that hostel is really important, especially when it is a cool, cheap hostel.

Hostels give travelers: social interaction, a room, a kitchen, local tips, and a nice shower. They are an vital part of a backpackers or long term travelers travel experience and it is important that you stay at the one that best suits your needs in order to get the best hostel experience you can.

I’ve spent a lot of hours looking for a great hostel and the truth is one doesn’t exist. A great hostel can be bad if it has bad people staying there and a bad hostel can be the best one of your life if it is filled with amazing people. You’ll never know until you get there.

The best way to choose your hostel is to conduct research online and read many of the booking sites. Moreover, you need to know what you want. What kind of hostel are you looking for? Do you want a party hostel, a big hostel, a small hostel, or one with a kitchen? Knowing what you want beforehand can help narrow your choices and make finding that hostel much easier and much less time consuming.

The best way to find this information out is by going on the web and reading hostel reviews on booking sites. The reviews will give you a good idea about the type of hostel a location is and who goes there and for what reason. If you want a quiet clean hostel, picking a hostel at random could lead you to a hedonistic all night party place. If you want a quiet place, you will know that the place you are going to is that and not something else.

Good hostels tend to be world famous. All travelers know of The Flying Pig in Amsterdam or Base in Melbourne. These reputations are carried overseas and spread by other travelers. So the best way to find a great hostel is to ask other travelers. Hostels are always changing and they will have the most up to date information on the good spots in a city. But remember no matter what the place is like it is all about the people. Find a hostel with good people and you will find the right hostel for you.

HB5 is a bad bill because it directly affects religious liberties. Court cases in other states that have this type of law confirm that the homosexual agenda is not to “live and let live” as Mike says. They are trying to intimidate the public into “accepting their lifestyle” or suffer the consequences. Business owners like Elaine Photography in New Mexico are being sued for refusing to photograph same-sex weddings, (she even referred the couple to another equally good photographer who would do the job) now she faces court costs and fines. Pastors in England are being put in jail for speaking against the lifestyle in the pulpit. A church in New Jersey is being sued by a same-sex couple because they wanted to use the churches outside pavillion for a civil union ceremony, because the pavillion is deemed(a public accomodation) and because NJ has a law identical to HB5 they will probably lose. Lastly, what most people overlook in this debate is education. A couple in Massachusetts was taken before a judge and threatened with jail time for wanting to “opt out” of same-sex marriage indoctrination in a kindergarten class. We need to do some research here folks and stop just chaulking this up as “you mean haters are opposed to gay rights”. This has far reaching concerns. As for New Castle Co., there was just as many people from above the canal as Kent or Sussex on Thursday at the rally. Interest on these issues has been overwhelming upstate.

Wow, I have recently learnt of this discussion forum, and thanks to East Coast. I just want to air my honest views on the situation at UKZN.
South Africa as a country has a long history of Collonialism and Apartheid. These 2 made sure that black South Africans were oppressed and they did not enjoy the benefits that the White South Africans were enjoying, therefore there was a grat deal of inequality. After the attainment of democracy in 1994, that meant that everyone will be equal, and that we will have equal access to the resources and oppotunities in this country, however that has not been achieved completely as yet.

Now, UKZN as an Institution should take the above into consideration, especially at the beginning of the year, as it is the most stressful period in any institution. This is the time where many “poor” students flock into the University having been accepted to study there, but are given no Financial Aid, and No residence. These are students from other provinces, from Nkandla, Nongoma, Nquthu, and many other poor rural areas, come in looking for education, a chance to build their future and that of the country. Now this is what I want to check, does being poor mean that you must not have access to education? because the students that some of you refer to as hooligans, have passed matric with flying colours, and I’m certain that our country can use those brilliant brains. All that is needed is for our institutions and goverment to prioritise NSFAS when they make a budget allocation at the beggining of the year.

The other issue that is really a problem in UKZN is the Alarmong Exclusion rate in Engineering, About 795 students were excluded by the faculty, and that is 2008 alone! Is our institution assisting in dealing with the problem of skills shortage that our country is facing? The future of this country lies in the hands of those that lecture in class rooms, because the country needs graduates, but these people are consistantly failing students in that engineering department. I’m really failing to understand why would students that got more that 43 points in matric fail to complete a degree? I seriously wonder.

My point here is that there are genuine problems in UKZN(and other institutions), and the worst part is that the management does not want to co-operate, that why students resort to strikes. I fail to understand why some of you refer to students that were protesting as “Hooligans”!! I really wonder, it means that you are so insensitive and selfish, full stop.

I do not support strikes, However, if a need arises, Protesting is always a solution. In this case after the strike, the University has agreed to give more financial packages, has agreed to find extra accomodation, and they have agreed to review the cases of excluded student.

    Thanks
    Njabulo

to make things short and to the point, no you do not need to book your accomodations ahead of time. there is always something open, trust me. plus even though lots of people go to Mexico during christmas vacations they end up staying with relatives, so dont worry too much about it.

Declaration of domicile, residence of sponsor and work of the sponsor are important documents for a student visa plus the passport, birth certificate and most of all, the bank book to show that the visitor can shoulder the expenses during the visit.

In reference to a budget hotel in Easton – there are also ongoing plans to build a budget hotel as part of the Bristol Rovers stadium re-development at Horfield. However, one of the reasons for the failure to find adequate funding for the Rovers redevelopment is that no-one appears to be keen to sign up for the hotel (or, of course, the student accomodation).

I wondered before who would use a budget hotel with limited parking at the Rovers ground – I wonder even more for a budget hotel in Easton.

It sounds like one of those ideas that look good as a way of making the development look more “mixed-use” and thus appealing to planning officers but in reality…….
