Havana Night Life

by Mr Jose Mauricio Maurette

You are about to discover one of the most dazzling places where to spend a brilliant night out in Havana in your Cuba holidays. The place is widely known as A Paradise Under the Stars and the name is Tropicana.

Tropicana is located in Havana in the municipality of Marianao towards the west end. This outdoors Cabaret features the very best of the Cuban music which has evolved one of the best dancing music in the world. Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Bolero, Guaracha, Timba and Salsa rhythms are played every evening.

This amazing Cabaret also takes pride in having the best popular dancing school in Cuba. Needless to say you will be up to one hell of a treat for your eyes.

With a great deal of history and tradition Tropicana has hosted stars such as the Great The great Nat King Cole and performer Carmen Miranda as well as many other renown artists of the American continent. Those were the 1950?s when Havana flourished as a great tourist destination especially for American tourists.

Those were years of great corruption and vice which spread out in the highest levels of the Cuban society. Tropicana was the centre of attraction for the wealthiest looking for some good fun. Prostitution and gambling were part of the menu.

Things have certainly change after the revolution led by Fidel Castro which overthrew Batista in 1959. There is no more gambling in allowed in Cuba and Tropicana is not an exception.

The Complex also has a restaurant on separate building but all mingles extraordinarily well in a jungle of tropical forest. The outdoor Cabaret has room for over 1000 people and it gets packed every night. A booking in advance is required to secure a seat.

Of course Tropicana is not the only good place to spend a night out in Havana but it is absolutely the highlight of Havana?s night life. Even if you are not a cabaret person yourself you will be dazzled by this amazing show.
