In recent years the USA has seen a decline in traditional local industries such as logging and fishing. This is because environmentally, both these industries have to be closely controlled. But the offshoot of this is not that more people are out of work, it means that small towns based on these industries have become popular as tourist or vacation destinations. Fort Bragg has become a vacation destination and Fort Bragg hotels are reasonably priced as well as unique.

Mendocino have become very built up, and a result of this is that there is not really a great amount of space to open tourist attractions such as restaurants, galleries and boutiques. Fortunately Fort Bragg does not suffer from this problem, so many business owners have moved to Fort Brag, which is really just down the road.

Both Mendocino locals and tourists are favoring Fort Bragg as a good place to stay and it is a popular town with visitors during the March Whale Festival, and on Paul Bunyon Day over Labor Day Weekend. This town is a buzzing hive of activity during the vacation season.

The B&B’s, guesthouses, lodges and hotels of Fort Brag are completely unique. They are reasonably priced, and you will find the Grey Whale Inn to be better than a home from home. It is housed in a building built in 1915, originally as a hospital.

This Inn is a beautiful red wood building with spacious hallways and large guest rooms. Each room has its own unique features and is furnished accordingly. Trays are available in the breakfast room, if you feel like taking your breakfast back to bed with you, enabling you to really relax and have a good time. It is a short walk from the beach and is a popular place to stay.

The Beachcomber Motel is also another good place to stay. It is situated on the coast, just across the road from MacKerricher State Park. The large outside deck facing the Pacific is where you will want to spend most of your time, so even if you have a budget room this won’t matter much.

Rooms can be had from budget to luxury, and there are also rooms available with kitchenettes. So if you want to cook you own meals you can and there is also a barbeque are for guests to use. Although this motel does not have all the bells and whistles of many of the Fort Brag hotels and B&B’s, it is still more than adequate to provide for anyone’s needs.

These are just a couple of examples of all the wonderful Fort Bragg hotels you are able to find. There are some really happening places to stay; one of the most popular is the local brewpub, North Coast Brewing Company, voted in the best 10 breweries in the world by the Beverage Testing Institute in 1998. The building where the pub is situated; was during its lifetime, a mortuary, admin offices, an annex of the Presbyterian church and an art studio, this building is a century old.
