Marseilles is the second city in France in terms of population. It is the biggest port on the Mediterranean and also the economic centre of the Provence-Alpes-Cote.

Whilst Marseilles may not have the instant appeal that Paris has, you will still love the city if you make an attempt to properly see it. You can explore the African markets; go to the cliffs falling into the sea, or tour Panier and the Corniche. Marseilles has many things to present to those who try to really explore the city.

When in town, make sure you see the Vieux Port- the old harbor. You can view the fishermen selling the fish they catch via auction. Additionally, if you disembark on the port in the evening you will never forget the view. Notre Dame de la Garde is a big church that looks over the city. In past times, the fishermen used to get their boats sanctified here. If you go here, you can still find some boats in the area. The Cours Julien is a place where you can unwind and visit the book stores, playground, or even get a coffee in a caf. It’s an extremely fashionable hangout place in town.

The Corniche is a road adjacent to the sea that has beautiful panoramas of the water as well as the Calanques and the Chateau d’If. The Place Castellane is a big fountain pizza with numerous cinemas and restaurants neighboring it. It is an extremely pleasant place to go and spend an evening at. Also, after watching a movie, you can easily get snacks and food from here.

The Boulevard Longchamp and Palais Longchamp are a castle and a walkway. Because the palace is not very huge, it takes very little time to tour it. Regardless, it is certainly worth a visit at least once.

One more place you should go to is Borely park which is just three hundred meters from the sea. The oldest part of town called the Panier is totally gorgeous. The area has old buildings, museums, monuments, and exhibitions that are organized throughout the year. You can absorb yourself by visiting these places, and therefore get an idea about the city’s history.

If you are in Marseilles for longer, you should definitely watch a local football match. The team “Olympique de Marseille” used to be European champions, but had shown substandard performance in the last few years. Regardless, the feel in the stadium is still exhilarating and certainly worth the trouble of finding a ticket.

Things to see out of town consist of the Chateau d’If which is a tiny island and was in fact a prison before. It is well-known because of its link with the novel “The Count of Monte Cristo”. The Calanques are fjords which are stunning, and have grand views.

Marseille is a great town, and definitely has a lot to offer to its tourists even if it is not as well known or marketed as Paris.

My mother is the biggest money fail I know. She has lived all her life on credit, jumping from temporary job to temporary job. Saves a little, invests less. At 65, she has no retirement savings to speak of.

She bought a business a few years ago which drained all the money she got from her father’s passing. It finally shut its doors this past summer, and she and her husband have both been unemployed since. She’s told me they have about $12,000 left.

They are right now on their FOURTH vacation of the year… this time, it’s a 7-day cruise to Carribbean. Not content with just wasting their money on that, she and her husband are driving to Florida to catch it, staying at hotels along the way, and then back, when she tells me they “might stay in DC” for a few days. I dont’ know why unemployed people need so many vacations…

Heaven help us when, probably within the year, they have nothing left and come to us, their children, for handouts. I don’t know what we’ll do, because we’re all trying to keep our own selves and children afloat.

I think it could definetely be Rachel Weisz. Lainey once posted a BI about how damn cheap she was, regifting shit she stole from hotels (like, the little soaps and shit). She’s drop dead gorgeous AND I can totally see her pulling that "I’m not paying" crap.

You want to do something marginaly helpful?
Write to congress to cut the crap and build Nuclear power plants as if there was no tomorrow.
We don’t need to save energy. We need MORE energy.
    - Everyone wants to get rid of Oil… ok…I dig it.
    - Everyone wants woop-dee-do electric eco-delicious-friendly green car.

HOW in God’s name are you going to power them ????

Don’t worry about nuclear waste… in the next 20 ~ 30 years we get fission going and we re-burn all that waste until is exhausted without needing to mine and use new ore for eons.

Las Vegas Hotels feature some of "THE" most advanced lighting technology in use today. Do you thing Casinos want to spend millions yearly in electricity bills? No.
Having them turning off the light most likely did not do anything. Street lighting alone is provably an order of magnitude in comparison.

I’m all for green, but in the right places.
Scientific American (2 months ago), article on global CO2 warming… What a load of crap!.
    All global lndustry contribute 10% of CO2, cars = 12%, Energy generation = 14%, Agriculture = 23%, Beef = 40%, pultry = 20%, etc….

So kill all cars and you only save 12% of all CO2.
Shut down ALL industry and you only shave 10% of global CO2.

So unless you go veggie, and pedal your way to work and go back to pen and pencil and candle light, there’s nothing you can do that would even begin to impact the planet.

Which bring me to: Why was 2008 the coldest year of the century? [www.news.com.au]
Ah… go ahead buy your carbon credits.
I rather stick with Nuclear power, lots of it.

I’m going to Paris in a month and I almost booked the hotel(s) through a TravelZoo deal, but in the end decided on two smaller B&B-type hotels closer to the center, based on recommendations by Rick Steves, for even slightly less money. It’s easy to get caught up in “great deals” that might not turn out to be so great.

The most interesting thing to me is the shipping container concept. That’s the future model of efficiency. Portable data centers that you can drop anywhere you need ‘em.

If you actually read the page before signing up you’d know that it was not for a full membership, but a trial. You don’t get a magazine or the knife or the insurance, you get: * 24/7 Defense of Your Firearm Freedoms * NRA’s Freedom Times Monthly E-Letter * Your NRA Membership Card and Decal * Savings on Hotels, Rental Cars and More * Invitations to Friends of NRA Dinners and Celebration of American Values Special Events * Free Admission to NRA’s Show With Over Five Acres of Guns, Gear and Outfitter Displays (with current membership) in Phoenix, 2009 – Charlotte, 2010 – Pittsburgh, 2011 It never said you’d be getting a magazine for free, so maybe you should have read the page before you signed up. I’m guessing you’ll get your card in another few weeks. It took 4 weeks to get my card when I signed up for a paid membership. –FCOD

I would say no.. I don't think they would risk that, Unless they take payment there and then. If they are taking payment after your stay or on the actual date of your stay then i doubt it.

Good luck on more answers though :P

Almost every hotel has an official policy that says at least one adult must be in each room. In some states there are laws that require this About the only official exception is for school groups, where adults agree to supervise blocks of rooms.

Not all hotels enforce the adult requirement. Some will let anyone register–no questions asked and no ID required. Even in those that do officially enforce the rules, many people will book more than one room, officially in the name of adults. When they arrive, however, the adults will stay in one room and the kids in another.

In addition to the laws and policies, many hotels ask the number of adults because they price rooms by the number of adult occupants. Kids are often free, but adults are charged per person.

Several hotels specifically say the maximum number allowed per room. (Choice Hotels–Comfort/Sleep/Quality/Clarion, for example, puts this information beside every available room on their website.) In those that don't, you can assume 2 per bed in the room. If cots or rollaways are available, generally an additional 1 person per room would be permitted. Again, though, many people violate this policy. That's particularly true in the case of families with numerous children, where a large group may end up sharing a single room.

One suggestion if you are considering cramming lots of people into a room. Have any extra occupants use a side entrance, rather than walking past the desk. Also, don't try to get a free breakfast (or similar amenities) for everyone. If you're paying for two people, that's the number of extras you are entitled to.

They regurgitate old announcements or technology

Tthey are not a normal company.

A day before this, they announced something similar to "TV Messenger" :
April 1- "Nortel’s CM 9520 provides consumers with enhanced options such as pop-up notifications that identify incoming calls by name and phone number on their TV screen."

Befopre bankruptcy we also had 3rd world railway orders, libraries, malls, hotels, hospitals… More they say, the more credibility is lost.
