Cheap New York Hotels

by Chris Linch

If the concept that a hotel room is meant for a short, comfortable stay in clean and safe settings, but without trimmings is acceptable, New York has several low priced facilities available. They are sometimes labeled as inns or hostels.

These so called ‘cheap’ hotels offer basic amenities like concierge, AC, TV, non smoking rooms, in room alarm clock, hairdryer, laundry, iron and ironing board, safe deposit box, shared bathrooms and parking at cost. Some have maid service, room service and even

disabled facilities. Many may not have in house restaurants, but there are always restaurants close by.

For example, the SoHotel located on Broome Street is one of the oldest hotels in the City. Rooms start at $93 a night and is located in central downtown in the heart of Little Italy and China Town. There are few amenities but each room does have its own bathroom. Art galleries, museums, theaters, shops, theaters, nightclubs and trendy restaurants, surround the area.

The Union Square Inn is also a gem for those looking for a place to stay in the City. This East Village Inn offer 46 clean, simply furnished large rooms and is located at 209 E. 14th Street. This boutique hotel has private, air-conditioned rooms with cable TV, telephones, Internet Access and a complimentary continental breakfast. There is also a fabulous European-style caf on the premises. Rooms are available as private single, double queen and deluxe.

The Chelsea Savoy Hotel is another great find located on 204 W 23rd Street in Manhattan. Rooms start at $99 and Chelsea Savoy Hotel. Guestrooms are traditional equipped with telephones, televisions and safes and air conditioning. There is also a free newspaper, refrigerator and iron in each room. Pets are allowed and complimentary coffee is served.

I hate to be hateful about this, but I am extremely mad at our legislature right now. The specter of MARTA cuts saddens me, but the larger transportation mess we’re in is truly disgusting and exasperating, in that the legislature would rather play politics and get huffy with one another than do the right thing. I hope they feel the wrath of voters when gas goes back up to $4 and everyone’s stuck in traffic, and when Atlanta starts losing convention business because the rail line from Hartsfield-Jackson to the downtown hotels and convention centers is severed one day a week.

Carolyn, former Atlanta Mayor Sam Massell has an explanation, though only part of the story: Lester Maddox got it that way because of a fear of “winos” riding it all day (word to Lester’s ghost — a fare didn’t, and doesn’t, stop them). Mind you, Massell’s pipe-dream dream of a fareless system was crazy in pragmatic terms, but still, the 50/50 funding restriction is ludicrous.

And to the critics saying that MARTA’s leaders are getting what they deserve from any actual or perceived mismanagement: please realize the whole mess is screwing hundreds of thousands of people over. Including me. My car is held together on duct tape and hope. I can’t afford a new one, and if it goes out, I rely on the transit system alone. I also use the system to get back and forth to work downtown from Atlanta-in-DeKalb.

Also, no one has yet mentioned that MARTA being closed on Fridays might hurt passengers from Cobb, Gwinnett, etc. who are ferried in by GRTA or their local transit agencies for work. Not everyone works right where the Xpress bus stops, and often a whole slew of folks get off the buses from suburbia at MARTA Civic Center Station to go elsewhere.

Great advice ! I recently went on a long trip with my then 8 month old twins where we stayed in hotels for almost 3 months, so we had to eat out as good as every meal ! Luckily my kids were very well behaved (most of the time) but it was still VERY tiring. One thing that "saved" us though, was that they didn’t walk yet so we could all still have dinner together !
Now (at 15 months old) we tend to only go out to nice restaurants at lunch time with them, as they tend to be in better mood and it is less likely that people would mind if they were to misbehave. That way, I don’t feel like I am missing on good quality "adult" food PLUS I still get a break from cooking every now and then !
Ps. I always make sure to order some bread as soon as I get seated… just in case the little monsters start acting-up.

I just got a call from this company yesterday.  First of all, if this was not a scam, they wouldn’t be asking for us to pay money.  The guy that i talked to was name Greg (I don’t remember his last name) and he said they he didn’t need anymore pictures from me (and i only sent 3) and he also said that they would cover my food, hotels, airfare, etc and that i would just have to pay like $300 for a comp card.  I told him that I didn’t have the money and he said that was too bad that he would find somebody else.  I honestly think, as much money as these tv shows make, if there asking you for money up front, ITS A SCAM!!!!! Don’t give anybody any money unless you really don’t care whether you get it back or not because these people sound like theives and they don’t sound very trustworthy either.  The guy that contacted me had been talking to me for all of 2 minutes on the phone and was already calling me honey.  That’s a HUGE red flag.

You can’t sell an ISPs connection, it’s as simple as that. Had the man arranged a connection in the proper names, and sold the installation to the hotels, and not the connection everything would be fine. …as you can see here the fees are rather steep, so there is no way that he can claim that he was charging only to recoup costs. I can tell this article is going to be filled with comcast haters already, but he is charging even more ridiculous prices than comcast, and while I cannot attest to his customer service I can bet it is not worth the fees, after all it is only as good as the weakest link, and that is probably comcast.

) April 1, 2009 — Hotelesys has completed an integration between several major social networks and the online presence for Esencia Estate in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, boosting its online conversions by 10% the first week. Hotelesys equated these networks, if managed correctly, to be a top marketing tool for hotels. They have developed internal software that simplifies a hotel’s integration into these networks enabling Esencia to quickly match up user content from social media sources.

This isn’t new. I’ve first heard of this a while back, but I think it is an interesting topic. In general, I’m opposed to this sort of thing. Case in point is the women only floors in hotels: However, in this particular case, I do understand why there is need. There seem to be an awful lot of men who participate in groping there, and based on the statistics in the article, it seems to be a serious problem. In this case of a real, legitimate issue, that has been attempted to be tackled using other means (awareness campaigns, heightened security), but is still an issue, I could see action like this being taken, rightfully so. I don’t believe it’s a perfect solution, and I definitely can understand men who may feel they are being discriminated against because of this, but honestly I don’t see any other realistic alternative.

It is a natural extension of USAT’s “outside your door” initiative. They are being very agressive & cooperative in getting their papers to the hotel for distribution to the rooms. The hotel sends an email order based on their expected occupancy and the papers arrive on time for distribution before morning.

Because USAT makes it “easy” for hotels, it is effectively replacing the local papers in hotels. This blog will build on that link as travelers are still, to some extent, a captive media audience.

Hey joewo, you are right – in other parts of the country they blow them up with homicide bombers; the take entire hotels hostage; they take entire schools over and kill hundreds of people in a siege. And in other parts of the world people do NOT have the right to keep and bear arms to protect themselves….And if someone in that building in Binghalton had been armed legally, they would not have had to cower in fear in teh basement waiting for 90 minutes for someone else with a gun to show up to rescue them.As for the guy in Pittsburgh, the problem is with the person, NOT with the machined piece of metal. No one ever clamors for more laws against cars when someone drives through a crowd and kills people.

I remember of staying at a hotel in Mahipalpur area(10-15m drive from both the terminals) last year. I don't remember the name though .It was about Rs. 1500 for an A/C type room just for a night. They would quote some high price if you show up with a lot of luggage.Don't forget to bargain.

You can get a prepaid taxi at the airport counter and ask the taxi driver to take some hotel.

The fireworks are best seen from the Park Hotels (they have special rooms) – however I used to live near there and all but the water show are pretty visible from about a 2 mile radius. The fireworks are set up in front of the Pirates of the Caribbean and fired over Tom Sawyer Island. There is a show directly over the water that utilizes light and pyrotechnic effects. If you dress her in her "bunny sleeper" (blanket pj's with feet or even a sweat suit and socks) after Dinner and have her in the stroller you would enjoy the water side view best.
If you really want to stay in the Hotel -The Anaheim Travel Lodge and Holiday Inn are good hotels just make sure when booking to ask for a room with windows facing the park. Good Luck!
