The hotel industry is broken down into three separate categories: extended stay, limited service and full service. While the exact hotel facilities a guest can expect are going to change from property to property, there are some core items that should be present at each level. Here is a quick overview of what can be expected at each level.

An extended stay property is lodging that is long term. These are very popular among people that are relocating to a new area and permanent accommodations are not ready or have not been found yet. Room rates are generally very low, but so are the amenities that are offered. Some hotels are a bit more welcoming than others, but most will offer little more than a room.
